How are you in the morning? Are you a natural morning person or like me does your inner bear feel the pull of hibernation in the AM? Fear not, there are tools that you can use to effectively hone your mind and body for whatever the day throws at you. Through simple practices of movement and breathing you can tap clear your mental space and feel welcome and enthusiasm for the morning!!! Just like that!! Focus, clarity, ease in the whole body as you prepare it for a hard day at work. Even on my foggiest mornings a simple routine of movement, breathing and meditation helps me to become clearer in my thinking, calmer in the face of challenges through the day and maintains space between occurences and reaction. The movement practices also helps to strengthen backs, ease shoulders and necks and prepare the whole body and mind for the day. Routine is key! But at the same time so is the ability to be flexible when the day begins differently....regular practice is what helps you have the roots of a routine but the ability to flow with the day that has been offered to you. Because I find these practices so useful myself in the morning....I am offering 30min classes beginning at 7:15 AM Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Consider it like a pre-match huddle where players (your many components) re-affirm the common aims of the team before bursting apart to get on with the trials and tribulations of the tasks at hand! As it is early in the morning it will be primarily a movement based class with a brief focus and meditation section for the last 5 minutes. Roll out of bed! Hit the Zoom link (pre-booking essential) and Ease into a magnificent day! Join me and find the new morning you!! Yoga in the workplace or Corporate Yoga has become a trending subject in recent times. And there are many reasons why this is a good thing!
Of course it depends on the type of work one does - but many occupations involve static positions or repetitive actions sustained over many hours as goals and targets are met. More recently the rapid transition to home working due to the Covid-19 pandemic has led to less than optimal work spaces being used and increased pressure on individuals with regard to job security and social isolation. Stress, static positions or constant repetition of posture can lead to back pain, sore wrists, headaches, hip pains, low energy, poor sleep and stress....among many more maladies resulting increased absenteeism, unhappy employees and reduced team productivity. Imagine a practice designed to be used during the workday with minimal interruption to the flow of work but maximal effect on your employees health and well-being. Imagine offering your employees self-help tools which they can access to improve well-being, focus and health. Yoga can often be thought of as a bit of stretching done on a mat in stretchy clothes and that is the sum total of it. Yoga offers a whole host of tools, movements and stress management techniques which can be applied in any workplace without need of props, mats, stretchy clothes. Workplace yoga offers an opportunity to move where you are and in so doing relieve the stress on overworked portions of the body such as backs, shoulders.... Workplace Yoga offers the space to attend to ones breath and in so doing find a tool to increase energy and set aside stress. Workplace Yoga offers the practice of practical meditation and in so doing enhances focus and productivity. Workplace Yoga can be a small practice with large affects. There is no need for changing clothes, mats or special equipment. ..but if you want to do all that that's fine. Workplace Yoga can be done on-site or via any internet conduit (Zoom, Microsoft Teams....) . Yoga sessions can last 20 minutes and up depending on experience, needs and time availability and delivery method.
